Sea Moss Gel

Sea moss gel can be made from its powder form and used in the kitchen in several ways. In gel form, sea moss can be used as a thickening agent, binding agent and when used correctly it can make baked goods rise in the oven.
By applying boiling water to some seamoss / irish moss powder and allowing it to cool the sea moss converts itself from a watery mixture into a solid gel reminiscent of a chew-able solidified pudding. Sea moss gel can be used in baking as a binder, as a substitute for eggs. Seamoss gel can also be used to make softer and more chew-able breads.

Ingredients:
  • 1 Tablespoon Sea moss powder  (also works with at least 1-1/2 tsp.)
  • 1 cup spring water
Equipment:
  •  Blender

Method:
  1. Boil spring water and add to blender.
  2. Add the sea moss powder and blend on high for at least 1 minute or until all of it has liquefied.
  3. Pour the liquid into a glass cup.
  4. Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 1 hour or until it has solidified into a gel.
  5. Store in the refrigerator covered for up to two weeks.
