Looking back, it was affordable and easy to find an authentic fine mesh sea moss powder. During the Covid-19 pandemic a lot of businesses slowed down or even shut down all together. There was a sea moss drought but here's what people may not of noticed.
After the sea moss drought during the pandemic, many sources were unable to harvest and/or sell to consumers. After a year or so, the cost of sea moss tripled in value and you must remember that not all sea moss is authentic. It's even trickier to tell the difference when it's in its powder form.
Fun fact: Sea moss is also known as Irish Moss and Chondrus Crispus.
I've always liked the powder form because it can easily be added to a smoothie and it can also be shelved easily and is ready to consume.

Main Coast Sea Vegetables:
Another company that never compromised was Main Coast Sea Vegetables,
they also did not have sea moss powder available. Although, in 2022,
their sea moss powder texture changed, it's still authentic but it's not
that fine mesh powder they used to produce.
With all that said, while sea moss had a drought, it's often companion sea vegetable known as bladderwrack was always available.
